Although Elizabeth's BFA degree
from Temple's Tyler School of Art shows a concentration in printmaking,
she also expresses herself in other media. Liz did not begin to pursue
her art career until her arrival in Bucks County thirty years ago.
Encouraged by her family, she first attended Bucks County Community
College's Fine Arts program where she received an Associate Degree
in Fine Art and then progressed to Temple's Tyler School of Art where
she received her BFA.
In additiont to formal art training, Elizabeth has found workshops
in water media, oils, patels, printmaking and calligraphy exciting
ways to expose her to new ideas and different techniques. In particular
she has found that the many courses offered by the Printmaking Council
of New Jersey aand workshops with painters Serge Hollerbach, Al Brouillette
and Christopher McCauley have been important influences on her work.
Printmaking has dominated her art work for most of her career. Elizabeth
has produced woodcuts, linocuts, collagraphs, etchings, lithographs
and silkscreens. Classes at the Printmaking Council of New Jersey have
exposed her to large format woodcut techniques, letter press and pochoir.
Calligraphy allows Liz to express herself with words, letterforms and
illuminations with quotes of her choice. Whimsical and humorous images,
titles and quotes are typical of her approach to her calligraphic and
painted works.
An active member of the Upstairs Gallery of Peddler's Village in Lahaska,
a cooperative gallery, Elizabeth served four years as director and
continues to make contributions to the administration of the gallery.
Her other memberships include the Doylestown Art League, the North
Penn Arts Alliance, the Printmaking Council of New Jersey, the Pennsylvania
Watercolor Society, the Washington Calligraphers Guild, Merrifield,
Virginia and the Society of Scribes in New York City.
Elizabeth's work can be found in many private collections including
the Neonatal Department of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her
work has been included in shows at Phillips Mill, Stover Mill,Tinicum,
Doylestown and other venues in and about the Delaware Valley area.
